Modern Archives revives out-of-copyright books as clean, faithful web editions and high-quality EPUB downloads. Each of its 49 titles is carefully re-edited and typeset for comfortable on-screen reading, then organized into a browsable library with themed collections, full-text search, and a distraction-free per-book reader. Behind it is a complete static-publishing pipeline — cataloguing, editorial cleanup, EPUB generation, and automated content-integrity checks — deployed to a global CDN, built to make classic literature genuinely pleasant to read again.

How it works

A Zola static site fronting a Python publishing pipeline: public-domain sources are catalogued, editorially cleaned, and rendered to both web pages and validated EPUBs; a CI build runs content-integrity, SEO/accessibility, and catalog checks before publishing to a CloudFront CDN. Reading, search, and collections are all static and fast.
